Educational Guidance
Educational guidance is a systematic and ongoing support process integrated into vocational education, aimed at fostering students’ personal, academic and professional development.
This iTlent programme takes a broad approach and seeks to:
- Supporting students as they build their personal and professional pathways
- Provide practical tools and resources to guidance counsellors and teachers
- Promote more inclusive practices in educational institutions
Through this approach, educational guidance is no longer a one-off activity but becomes an integral part of the wider learning community, present in counselling, in the classroom and in projects.
The main aim is to build the capacity of schools to integrate guidance in a systematic way.
Through this, the aim is to strengthen Educational Guidance in VET in the Basque Country, ensuring the personal, social and academic-professional development of all students by:
- Promoting the sharing and transfer of knowledge and resources
- Providing strategies and guidance for integrating guidance into VET
- Identifying and disseminating good practices developed in schools
- Creating practical and useful materials for teachers and guidance counsellors
Educational guidance is key to addressing the main challenges facing the VET system:
1. Because it ensures the holistic development of students
Helps students to shape their own personal and professional development.
2. Because it facilitates attention to diversity
It promotes inclusive learning processes tailored to pupils’ abilities, learning speeds and personal and social circumstances.
3. Because it fosters positive coexistence
It helps to create safe spaces in schools, prioritising students’ well-being and facilitating their learning process.
The process under the educational guidance work line is structured around a range of complementary initiatives.
On the one hand, opportunities for collaboration between guidance counsellors are promoted, with the aim of networking and sharing resources and best practices that enhance educational guidance.
On the other hand, support is provided to VET teachers to raise awareness and knowledge regarding diversity, through training and practical resources that enable them to respond appropriately in the classroom.
Finally, the dissemination of practices and experiences that are giving good results is encouraged, facilitating their transfer and application to other contexts.
